Pediatric dentistry consists of:
We have special child-sized tools and instruments that will help us treat your children in the most comfortable manner. Our desire is to make your child’s dental experience a happy one so that they continue seeing their dentist as an adult. Dental fears can be prevented, and it often starts with us! We take that responsibility very seriously.
Children who have disabilities or conditions that make seeing the dentist harder than usual can be seen by our office. We welcome pediatric special needs patients. We understand the needs that they have and our dental team has spent time learning about how to treat patients who need more specialized care.
We love kids! They bring joy and sunshine into our lives and we want to return the favor. Dental fears often happen because kids don’t have a good experience at the dentist. Not only do we want to make children feel comfortable, we want them to actually look forward to seeing the dentist.
And, such a thing is possible. How do we do this? Besides our education, experience, and general love of children, we have some of the most fun toys, prizes, stickers, and technology to help kids love going to the dentist.
For our special needs patients or children who present with dental fear, we offer nitrous oxide. Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a safe way to ease a patient’s fears, helping the child relax. Trying to perform a procedure on a child who is scared is difficult. The adrenaline running through their system makes it harder for them to get numb. With nitrous oxide, the child is relaxed and we can comfortably perform the dental procedure.
Besides nitrous oxide, we also offer other types of conscious sedation. These can be done via oral medication or intravenously. Sedation is a great option for those who have dental fears, children who have a lot of restorative needs (lots of fillings are needed), those who need extractions, and special needs patients. It helps keep the child’s nerves at ease and helps us get a lot done in a shorter period of time.
One thing we know about kids is that accidents happen. If your child experiences an accident that affects their dental health, we can help. Whether they’ve broken or lost a tooth or are experiencing dental pain, we are available whenever you and your little one needs us for emergency dental treatment.
We know that by serving the unique needs of children we can help them onto the path of lifelong dental health. Please contact us today to get your child started with a new patient examination.
